Tool Review: T-Fence MicroMag Adjuster and Switchable Magnet
Add this to any table saw fence to make micro-adjustments easilyAdjust your rip fence with precision
I depend on my table saw for a lot of precise work, and I’ve become an expert at the “fist-bump” method of rip fence adjustment. So when I was asked to look at the T-Fence MicroMag Adjuster from Canyon Fire Tools, I was skeptical. At first glance, however, I was impressed by its build quality and compact design. It consists of two plates connected by guide rods and a threaded adjustment wheel at the center.
One half of the adjuster is secured to the T-bracket of the rip fence with a magnet, and the other half to the guide rail. With the rip fence unlocked, I was able to adjust it precisely with a slight spin of the thumbwheel. I’ve had the micro-adjuster on my saw for the past couple of months and have found myself using it for just about every cut I make.
I have even taken it with me when I travel to teach. The magnet connecting the adjuster to the guide rail (sold separately) is switchable, which allows for big fence adjustments without having to remove the MicroMag from the fence. For me, it’s the perfect type of tool: I forget about it when I’m not using it, but it’s right there when I need it. —Michael Pekovich, editor and creative director
